The
relocated natal chart is the prime technique
in
l0cational
astrology. All linemaps, such as
Astro*Carto*Graphy.
Astrolocality, etc.,
derive
their information, for any l0cation,
from
the Relocated Natal Chart. But a linemap
typically
shows about 2-3 percent of what's in a
RelNat,
for any l0cation
studied.
The
main thing that happens in a relocated
natal
is a change of signs and degrees on
the
house cusps. This can cause planets
to
end up in new houses, with different
aspects
made to the houses. A RelNat
will
often feature new house rulers, as well.
Houses
deal with areas of life: money,
children,
marriage, etc. Astrology is all
about
wheels-within-wheels. As planetary
meaning
devolves through the wheels of the
astrological
system, houses are the final
resting
place; the most clearly focused
field
of
manifestation. In l0cational
astrology,
we
change the way the planets fall into houses,
and
this actually changes life effects.
That's
the
wonder of it all, and we have Jim Lewis to
thank
for bringing this up, though the significance
of
the discovery apparently didn't dawn on him.
That
is: That the Relocated Natal
Chart works,
and
quite well indeed.
The
relocated natal chart (RelNat) looks like a natal
chart,
and is as complex as a natal chart. Any
natal chart,
or
RelNat, contains well over 100 technical factors.
For
example, in Clinton's
RelNat for Washington, D.C.,
we
can easily spot these
technical factors present:
A

Ruler of midheaven in the 8th House
2)
Moon as ruler of midheaven
3)
Empty second house
4)
Saturn in the 10th

Jupiter in the First

Venus and Jupiter near the Ascendant

Libra Rising
10)
Pluto ruling 2nd from 10th
11)
Uranus in Ninth
Etc.,
etc. etc.
That
is an abbreviated list. If you want to see the
long
list
of technical factors in Clinton's Washington
RelNat,
click the link. You will see there are
well over 100.
Any
person's relocated natal, drawn for
any l0cation,
contains
at least 100 technical factors,
just as Clinton's
chart
does.
Of
these many factors, it is generally
easy
to spot over a dozen that are of major
significance
for the individual, having major effects
in
the l0cation.
For example in Clinton's chart, his
Moon-ruled
10th is obviously a big item.
Also
the Saturn-in-10, the empty second, and the
Mars-in-12th.
The Jupiter/Venus near Ascendant
is
also an item to note. (Note: Many
technical features of
Clinton's D.C. Relnat are also present in his Arkansas
natal. This means
that many of the D.C. themes were evolving for him also
in Arkansas,
or would have evolved, had he stayed in Arkansas.)
The
important thing to realize is:
Every
factor in the Relocated Natal, just as
in
the Natal, can be interpreted and can have effect.
This
is especially true of the dozen or so major
factors
always present. The Relocated Natal,
like
the
Natal Chart, functions as a whole, and
is only
rightly
interpreted when analyzed holistically.
Of
the eleven major factors listed above for Clinton, only
two
of them would show up on an Astro*Carto*Graphy
style
map made for him. These would be the Venus
and
Jupiter near
Ascendant. Jim Lewis was fascinated
with
studying this particular RelNat occurrence and designed
his
linemaps (trade name: Astro*Carto*Graphy) to show only
those
RelNat incidents. (Conjunctions of planets to four of
the
twelve house cusps.) These arbitrarily selected factors
from
the RelNat are all there is to be seen on the
Clinton's
astrocartography
enlargement to the right....
As
our page will demonstrate, other Relocated Natal
factors
also have great effect upon one's life. Let us look
at
some of those eleven pulled from Clinton's D.C.
chart:
Moon
Ruling Midheaven
The
midheaven means cusp of the 10th House,
which
is the career and public status House.
The
sign on this cusp, and ruling planet, will
become
associated with the person's public role.
The
Moon normally represents Woman.
So
we could predict that in his D.C. l0cation,
Bill
Clinton would become strongly associated,
in
his public image, with a woman or women.
This
manifested in clear terms from the start,
with
Clinton's wife taking an unprecedented
high
profile in his administration and
being
acknowledged
as influential on policy.
(Proof
of the public perception is seen on
bumper
stickers: "Impeach the President--
And
her husband too.")
Later,
Clinton's public image became wrapped
up
with other women: Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky,
and
a few more. (Also note that Clinton
females tend
to
exhibit Taurean appearance
and
qualities, because his Moon is in Taurus.)
So
let's take a crayola crayon and draw a
new
"line" across D.C. for Clinton. We'll call
it
the "MO-R-10" line. (Moon Ruling Tenth, in Washington.)
Midheaven
Ruler In The Eighth
So
we look at the planet ruling the midheaven; that gives
us
a set of colors. Then we also look at the house
in
which that planet sits. This gives us another set of colors.
This
is all very old astrological technique. Although these
ancient
techniques have fallen on hard times in these days of
massive
rel0cation,
it comes back strong
in
the Relocated Natal. Back to Clinton:
Not
only is his career cusp ruled by the Moon;
also this
Ruler
sits in the eighth house. Thus we could
expect that
Clinton
would become identified in
public not only with the
Moon,
but with 8th House matters
as well. Here are the
things
traditionally associated
with the 8th House:
Taxes
Inheritance
Insurance
Investments
Banking
Secrets
Sex
Death
Jointly
held powers and resources
Coercion
Power,
Struggle, Survival
This
simple list of classic 8th House items
immediately
throws before us most of Clinton's
public
career. Scan the papers and media to find
gobs
of headlines on:
--the
Clinton effort to create nationalized health insurance
--The
Whitewater corporation/investment scandal
--The
mysterious deaths of several assistants
--Secretive
sex, sex, sex
In
three of the above four themes, women are weaved
thru-and-thru
the story as key players. So that's his
career
shaper in D.C.: Moon Ruling the Career House
from
the Eighth.
The
eighth house being tied to secrets and power, it's easy
to
speculate that powerful women, including women's groups,
behind
the scenes, are an element
of Clinton's basic station.
So
we can see that the sign on a RelNat midheaven,
and
the position of it's ruler, is very important; not insignificant
parts
of the RelNat, as linemaps imply. Let's draw another line
across
the astrocartography map called: MH-R-f-8. ("Midheaven Ruled
from
Eighth.") But that is not the only part of the RelNat
that
also 'works." Let's go find some more missing lines....
Saturn
In Tenth
Traditionally
seen as giving much ambition, and a heavy
load.
It raises the stakes and makes one pay dearly for
screwups,
but if borne wisely, can bestow real power
and
authority. A very profound placement. It is a
make-or-break
aspect. So let's draw an "SA-10" line
on
our map for Clinton.
Mars
In Twelfth
Famous
in all the literature--going back centuries--
for
"secret enemies," usually of the male sex. I remember
growing
up with this l0cational
aspect in Des Moines.
Occasionally
I
would be attacked by some strange fellow
at
school or on
the street who seemed out to get me for
no
apparent reason. I remember running
thru the streets at
night
a few times pursued and out of breath. And I knew
not
why they were chasing me. Or being
"chosen"
at a high school dance by an unknown leather-
suited
tough, who punched me in the stomach to signify
that
he wanted to battle me outside.
It
doesn't take much imagination to realize Kenneth
Star,
the relentless prosecutor after Clinton, as a classic
Mars-in-Twelfth
picture. We could give this one a label
like
"MA-12." Nifty, huh?
Empty
Second
We
expect a president to be financially solvent,
but
Clinton has always ached over money while in
Washington.
This is because he has no support in the
Washington
House of Money from any fruitful planet.
Also,
an applying Mars square to his Washington money
ruler
ensured his financial struggle while living there.
It
may seem strange for us to
make a line for something
that
is not there, but any
technical fact could be depicted
as
a line. So
place a line called "Zero-2" on Clinton's map.
In
fact, this brings up a very important point about linemaps
vs.
the full relocated natal chart: If you want to know how
your
financial situation will be in another l0cation,
you look
to
the Second House. That is, the house of money. Let me repeat
that:
If you want to study your financial situation in a given place,
you
look at the House of Money. Linemaps like astr0cartography
etc.
actually give you Zero information about your house of money
in
any l0cation.
You can be near a "JU-MH," or a "Venus-MH"--
whatever.
But if your new House of Money is weak or troubled,
those
influences won't bring you a financial improvement. It's the
same
with every other area of life: If you want to know how your
kids
will do in the l0cation,
you look to the Fifth House there.
To
know if you'll be inspired to write, look at Third, etc. and etc.
The
fact that most astrologers--even big famous ones--didn't
figure
this out for decades after the dawn of linemaps; and the
fact
that many of them still actually navigate on Lewis' funny little
"lines"
-- bespeaks the tremendous power of technology to "dumb us
down."
Also, it tells of the power of astrological peer pressure and
orthodoxy.
But that's for another time....
Sun
In 11th
In
the Geostelan system, wherever the Sun sits
gives
some fulfillment, power and protection. In D.C.,
Clinton
has Sun in 11th. This is the sector of friends
and
community. Clinton is famous for the fact of his
many
loyal friends and the support he has always had
from
them. One of them even went to prison rather
than
testify against him. This house is not only the house
of
friends and community. It is also the Uranian House--
the
house of the idealist, the universalist, the new-
ager,
and the U.N. Thus Clinton is strong in his
expression
of solidarity with humanity as a whole
and
the "progressive" approach to governance.
Let's
draw Clinton's "Sun-Eleventh" line. See how
many
missing "lines" there are on those linemaps?
Jupiter
& Venus Near Ascendant
Now
we get to the only planetary aspects that actually
show
up on an astr0cartography-style
map for Clinton.
Any
planet in the RelNat first house, or near
it's cusp
(Ascendant)
will always be evident in
the very personality
of
the locatee. The First is the
House of Self, and having a
planet
here you "own
it" and display it to the world. Let's start
with
Clinton's Jupiter:
Jupiter
on ascendant functions as a lucky
charm.
No matter how tough it may seem, we are
usually
able to smile; to carry the energy, enthusiasm
and
benevolence of Jupiter. Gives physical vitality, and
injects
a a strong element of
Sagittarius into the personality.
Living
here turns you
into
any kind of evangelist, seeking
and
able to do
good for others. People who live with it are
able
and inclined to travel, and it has been observed
to
cause
weight gain. Jupiter on Ascendant is
really an
excellent
l0cational
influence for a politician
to have,
and
is one of the prime reasons that
Clinton holds
up
so well.
Venus-on-ascendant,
along with his RelNat and
natal
Libra Rising, fully account for Clinton's charm
and
basic attractiveness. It adds female energy along
with
the male energy brought by Jupiter. Thus giving
a
balance that people find appealing--especially women.
These
also lend diplomacy
and remove harshness from
the
persona when
in this l0cation.
His Venus-ASC is
the
main reason
Clinton always comes off pretty well.
O
yeah--this is one already marked on Clinton's
astrocartography
map in the form of a "line" near
Washington.
So finally we don't need our crayon.
Clinton's
Ninth House
The
Ninth House tells the story of how we experience
courts
of law, legal matters, university and college contexts,
and
long trips to foreign climes. It also depicts our approach to
religion
and church. Normally, Uranus in Ninth is a fairly
benign
placement, although it could always create some
occasional
upsets in ninth house realms. The more critical
factor
for Clinton is that his Washington Ninth House ruler is
under
long-term affliction from progressing Saturn. (Saturn is bearing
down
on the ruler, Mercury, with a conjunction. And Saturn
is
very cruel to Mercury because of their Quincunx relation-
ship.)
This, in a nutshell, depicts Clinton's heavy and grinding
long-term
legal pressures. It is also an example of the critical
importance
of tracking transits/progressions to the RelNat,
and
not just looking at the chart itself. This is the idea
behind
"Cyclocartography," which is Lewis' idea of tracking

percent of RelNat transit phenomena. The better approach
is
just to track all transits to the RelNat as you would to a
Natal
Chart, and refer to them as Relocated Transits.
NOTE: Some sites on the web erroneously associate Clinton's legal
problems with his Jupiter Ascendant. This is a misunderstanding.
Jupiter, being a benefic, benefits and protects those having it on
ascendant and does not normally engender problems, legal or otherwise,
rather the contrary. Clinton's legal problems stem from the above
factors in his house of law, along with a certain major matter affecting
his midheaven (not discussed here--we don't want to give away too
many secrets today). The house system still works in astrology,
and in l0cational
astrology it works even better than ever. The
Astro*Carto*Graphy bid to have us forget all of the houses except
four -- and then only their cusps -- hardly contributes to astrological
knowlege.
Linemaps
Are Inefficient Carriers
Of
Relocated Natal Chart Information
Now
if you go into the link showing the full
list
of factors in Clinton's Relocated Natal, you'll
see
that our linemap is going to begin to be unreadable.
As
mentioned, there are well over a hundred
technical
facts in a RelNat, all interpretable.
That's
not counting the relocated transits.
Usually
there are at least a dozen major items,
like
the dozen listed above from the Clinton RelNat.
Now
imagine what your linemap would look like
if
it had a dozen lines marked over every single town.
The
map would be dripping ink, with no speck of white
paper
even showing. Your printer's cartridge would go
dry
printing just one of these maps. And if the maps tried
to
present the true
complexity of the situation, the consumer
would
not
buy them.
It
isn't that the information on them is not true
information.
Indeed Clinton does have Venus near
the
ascendant at Washington. It's just that there is so much
more.
Therefore it is misleading. How many times I have had
a
client come to me after moving
somewhere, wondering why
things
are not turning out
just so. Usually, looking at her full
Relocated
Natal explains the problem easily.
Imagine
you and I are watching a baseball game
on
the T.V. That's us looking at someone's Relocated
Natal
Chart. Now imagine someone comes in and
drapes
a blanket over the T.V. They cut two little
holes
in
the blanket allowing us to see the second baseman,
and
the center fielder. Has this improved our
view
of
the game?
That's
what happening with linemaps
relative to the
Relocated
Natal chart. A simpler view would be to imagine
you
have someone's relocated natal chart there on the table
before
you. Now I come and tape a piece of construction
paper
over the chart you are studying. In the construction paper
I
have torn four little holes so that you can now see only four small
pieces
of the wheel. Would you feel that I had improved your view
of
the chart? This is the exact effect of a linemap.
In
l0cational
work, the full relocated natal is where it's at.
Now,
if you think the Relocated Natal is powerful, just wait
until
you look at Clinton's geodetics for Washington.
This,
plus other secrets, tells the rest of the story about
life
